I received my Doctorate of Chiropractic at Western States Chiropractic College ( now the University of Western States) in Portland Oregon in 1995.
I also am a licensed massage therapist and employ both areas of expertise to provide a more balanced approach to the treatment of musculoskeletal problems. The two disciplines are wonderfully complementary.
I was inspired to pursue chiropractic care after my own experiences. After suffering from a degenerative disk for several painful years, I finally needed surgery to repair the herniation after a simple sneeze. Still having back pain and told by my surgeon that it was due to arthritic changes and that he had done all he could, I resorted to other options. Chiropractic was not recommended by MD's at the time, but as they said, they had done all they could. I was in my mid twenties and hobbling around like an ancient.I was scared and the treatment took a while, but I regained a normal life and am still so happy I made that choice. I'm not one of those docs that thinks an adjustment cures everything, but for the conditions it works for, it is great.I wish more people were aware of the potential. It can be amazing.
